Liverpool FC’s new signing from Manchester City, James Milner believes he could be a Liverpool leader. He thinks joining Liverpool is a great decision and vowed to bring or add to the side to bring out the best out of Brendan Rodger’s young side. Milner was a tremendous figure for Manchester City yet believes joining Liverpool is the right decision and Liverpool fans should expect the best out of him.
As Raheem Sterling goes the opposite way in a record deal of £49 million, Milner however regrets not for turning his back to his former club, Manchester City following his contract expiration. There rose many questions as to why England internationals give up at times on champions league football and join a club that struggles in European football.
Milner gave out his statements about these questions that, the restoration of Liverpool’s glory is the main point that made him sign for the club.
He said ” When I signed for City, the attraction of going there was that they had not won anything for a long, long time,”
“I wanted to be a part of that and it’s a similar situation here. Liverpool have won so much over its great history but maybe over recent years they haven’t quite won what they’d like to. I see that opportunity again here to go and win.
“I saw the passion here when City were competing with them for the title two seasons ago. If you could win the title and other trophies here, it would be a fantastic place to do it.”
He said many with the most crucial one which said he wanted to run through a brick wall after speaking with Brendan Rodgers.
During this five years stay at the Etihad Stadium, James Milner won twice the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup. Manchester City made a lucrative offer just to have him stay but rejected in order to wear the famous red shirt.
